Scuderia Ferrari is the most successful Formula 1 team to this date, so we are very proud to offer you this unique 1 of 95 art print of González in the Ferrari 375 F1.
José Froilán González. There might be a chance you have never heard of him, but his victory at the 1951 British Grand Prix marked the beginning of the successful Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team. From that date, Scuderia Ferrari competed in 970 Grand Prix and won over 230 races, 16 Constructor’s Championships and 15 Drivers’ Championships.
During the qualifying of the 1951 British Grand Prix, González was one second quicker than Juan Manuel Fangio. This meant he achieved his and Scuderia Ferrari’s first pole position ever. Fangio managed to overtake González during the race, but because of the bad fuel economy of the Alfa Romeo, Fangio had to make a pit stop twice, whereas the Ferrari was able to finish the race with just one pit stop.
The other Ferrari on the grid, driven by Luigi Villoresi, came in as third. After the cars were checked, it turned out González used an older chassis and engine than the other Ferrari drivers! He only won one other Grand Prix in his career, though he should be considered as invaluable in Ferraris legacy.
