The 1956 Formula 1 season was all about the Scuderia Ferrari and its star-driver, Juan Manuel Fangio. After a tough season Fangio won the drivers' world champion title in the Ferrari D50.
Decisive for this success were his consistently good race results, which helped him heap up a points account big enough that a second place finish in the last race would do to keep the lead on his competitors. His Monza drive, which he partly did in his team mate’s car, brought Fangio his fourth driver´s champion world title.
Included in this set are three Ferrari D50 cars:
#1 on white base: 1956 British Grand Prix, Fangio won the race.
#1: 1956 German Grand Prix, Fangio won the race with a 45-second lead.
#26: Originally Peter Collins car, which he gave to Fangio after the Argentine driver’s own car broke down. Fangio went on to finish second and win his fourth Championship.
