This blue Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta is among the most iconic cars in the marques’ history. Stirling Moss and this particular Short Wheelbase (s/n 2119GT) were inseparably bonded.
Ketchell visualized the moment Moss took the lead during the 1961 Goodwood Tourist Trophy Race by overtaking Mike Parkes in another SWB, Jim Clark in his Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato and Chris Lawrence in his Morgan Plus 4. The 2119GT was driven by Mike Parkes, Jack Sears, Paul Vestey, Nigel Crown and Ross Brawn in the following years.
When Ross Brawn acquired the car in 2014 he commented that the car is very different to his other Ferraris: ‘’this car is the only pure-bred racing car, and the others are all road cars. It’s more of a raw driving experience… but it’s great to drive.’’
John Ketchell is internationally renowned as a motorsport artist. Ketchell has been commissioned to produce work by many leading companies and private individuals. His impressionist style allows him to really portray the feeling of speed and movement in his spectacular paintings. “I’ll paint anything that moves” he explains “I’ve done speedboats, aircraft and horses in a polo-themed series, but cars are my first love.”
