The legendary Testarossa name has been reborn with the all-new Ferrari 849 Testarossa and 849 Testarossa Spider. This car is the successor to the SF90 Stradale and a full-on evolution in performance and design.

From the most powerful turbo ever in a Ferrari to design cues that echo the golden age of motorsport, here are 7 things that make the Ferrari 849 Testarossa stand out.

1. 415 kg of downforce at 250 km/h

The 849 Testarossa generates a massive 415 kg of aerodynamic downforce at 250 km/h, which is 25 kg more than the SF90 Stradale it replaces. That means more grip in the corners, greater stability on the straights  and a whole new level of confidence behind the wheel.

2. Assetto Fiorano package + lap time

Need more performance? Tick the box for the Assetto Fiorano package, which shaves off 30 kg using extra carbon fiber, titanium components, and unique aerodynamic tweaks. It’s a must-have if you plan to push the car hard on track. Speaking of track performance, the 849 Testarossa is no slouch. It clocked a 1:17.500 lap time on Ferrari’s own race track Pista di Fiorano, making it the third-fastest Ferrari ever around the circuit. Only the SF90 XX and F80 beat it.

3. Best power-to-weight ratio

The 849 Testarossa is shockingly light for what it delivers. Thanks to Ferrari’s obsession with lightweight materials like carbon fiber and titanium, it boasts the best power-to-weight ratio of any Ferrari production car to date. Even with the added weight of the hybrid system, it manages to stay as light as the SF90 Stradale, which it outguns in every performance metric.

4. Biggest turbo yet

Ferrari 849 Testarossa powertrain

At the heart of the 849 Testarossa is a newly developed twin-turbo V8, pushing out a wild 830 horsepower. But what really makes this powerplant special is its turbocharger: the largest ever fitted to a Ferrari production car. Paired with a hybrid system adding 220 hp (from one rear and two front electric motors), the total output is 1,050 hp.

5. New paint colours

As you may know, we love new paint colours. Enter Rosso Fiammante and Giallo Ambra: two brand-new paint finishes developed specifically for the 849 Testarossa. Rosso Fiammante is a high-tech take on Ferrari’s traditional Rosso Corsa paint, with a deeper, metallic glow. Giallo Ambra is warm and rich, inspired by the tones and texture of natural amber, offering a fresh twist on Ferrari’s classic yellow.

6. Retro styling inspiration

Led by Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari’s Styling Centre took cues from the past and fused them with cutting-edge aerodynamics. The result? A shape that resembles Ferrari’s 1970s Sports Prototypes like the 512 S, with a modern twist. The signature crease line flows rearward to a double-tail rear end, while vertical and horizontal lines create a futuristic yet familiar silhouette.

7. Return of the Testarossa name

For us Ferrari fans, the word Testarossa is sacred. First introduced in 1956 on the 500 TR (Testa Rossa = “red head”, in reference to the painted cam covers), it became legendary with the 1984 Testarossa, one of Ferrari’s most iconic road cars.

8. SF90 replacement

The 849 Testarossa takes over the throne from the SF90 Stradale, stepping in as Ferrari’s most advanced and powerful hybrid supercar. It combines all of Ferrari’s motorsport know-how with improved battery management, revised aerodynamics, and a powertrain that delivers more without adding weight.
